Organ Donation and the Asian Community

Statistics show that 40% of people on the kidney and liver transplant waiting lists are from black and Asian communities, whilst only 3% of donors come from the same communities. Making up 8% of the population of the UK, the contrast between the need for organs and their availability is stark.

Live Life Then Give Life created this DVD for a Divali event to illustrate the importance of everyone in the UK signing up to the Organ Donor Register to help us save the lives of children like Ubaid and countless others who are dying every year on the waiting lists.

The video features Live Life Then Give Life Advocate Nehal Shah and her parents and sister, as well as Nyila Parveen and Zulfiqar Ali, parents of 15-month-old Ubaid who died in August 2008.

Christmas Wishes

Every year over 1000 people die due to the lack of organ donors in the UK.

Of the 8,000 people currently waiting for a life-saving transplant, many of them will be spending this Christmas wondering if it will be their last or if they'll be given the greatest gift - the gift of life.

Live Life Then Give Life Advocates Lisa and Jess talk about their contrasting views on Christmas and how they celebrate.

Do something amazing today - register to be an organ donor.

Team Ethan Run for LLTGL

On Sunday 17th May, seven friends and family of little Ethan Collins ran the BUPA Great Manchester 10K to raise money for Live Life Then Give Life.

Ethan, who received a liver and small bowel transplant but sadly died at the start of May aged just 16 months, lit up the lives of everyone he came into contact with. The team at LLTGL have been touched and inspired by the simple fighting spirit of this wonderful little boy and felt truly honoured and privileged to join Team Ethan for the day and the fundraiser in the evening, where the team raised nearly £6,000.

This video is the story of the day, including interviews with his uncles, cousin and his dad, Stu.

Please don't let Ethan's fight be in vain - please sign the Organ Donor Register today.
